What is the Student Government Association?
The Student Government Association (SGA) is made up of a diverse group of student leaders who pride themselves in creating the best learning and social environment for all students at the University of Central Florida. SGA is an actual governmental authority in all matters concerning the student body.
How do I find out who my Senator is?
You can find your assigned senator here on our website or stop by the SGA Office. The office is located on the second floor of the Student Union Room 214. In the office there is an updated list of Registered Student Organizations and the Senators that are assigned to each. Also, the Office of the President Pro Tempore is responsible for assigning senators to represent organizations and can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org or in Room 214B.
How can SGA help my organization?
There are many ways that SGA can help your organization. The most effective and immediate way is to contact your senator and discuss the issues pertinent to your organization. Work with your senator to establish an open line of communication and understanding to ensure that all issues are addressed and necessary funding is provided for events.
How do I receive funding from SGA?
The first step to receiving funding is always to contact your senator. He or she will be able to evaluate your event or conference and determine the best method of funding for your organization. There are three main methods of SGA funding: Senate Allocations, Senate Bills, and the A&SF Budget. Each method has a specific purpose and your senator can help recommend which fits your needs.
Where does the money come from?
The money comes from the Activity & Service Fee. Every student pays a ‘per credit hour’ fee that contributes to funding student activities and services. This includes things like the Student Union and the Recreation & Wellness Center. Read more about it on the Activity and Service Fee Website.
How do I get involved with SGA?
